PETER BURIAN
Now a grandfather, Peter has been telling stories for over thirty years. "I first started telling stories in order to get my first-born daughter to go to sleep. I found that by using my sleepiest voice, I could persuade her to become less restless and more sleepy. The problem was, it worked so well, I often used to send myself to sleep!" says Peter. Later, the stories became a great source of distraction on the long school-runs and friends used to beg to join the run so they could hear them too. The Burian house-hold was always full of children and Peter was often to be found sitting in an armchair, pipe in mouth, surrounded by 10 or 12 wide-eyed children sitting on the floor around him. Now Peter has 5 grand-children who are as excited by the stories and characters as his own children were. When 3 of them moved to the Middle- East, the only way to keep the stories going was to send them over the web for down-load and it was this process that prompted the launch of Fabularum. Susie Spratt MA
A qualified teacher and classicist, Susie has been steeped in the great myths, tales and legends of history since her own childhood. Susie’s joy for life and enthusiasm has brought her through many different careers: Teacher, Singer, Author, Actor, Director and Impresario. When she became a teacher, she found the art of story-telling an invaluable skill in helping her pupils learn and in keeping them entertained. When she had children of her own, once again her story-telling skills were put to the test and proved very successful in deterring the outbreak of World War III in a traffic jam, settling down for bed and as a great aid and distraction when it came to eating broccoli, scraped knees or any other of life’s unpleasantness. This background has permitted Susie to use Story Telling to educate and amuse often at the same time. Now these stories and wonderful voice are yours to download. Click here to go to Susie's stories
